A recent benchmarking visit by the Kenya Airways medical team to the Port of Mombasa offered a timely opportunity to examine how two major institutions can learn from one another\u2014and raise standards in both employee care and community impact.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">During the visit, the Kenya Airways delegation\u2014led by Dr. Eva Njuguna, Acting Head of Medical and Occupational Health, together with Dr. Dennis Amanya, Acting Senior Manager, KQ Health, and Mr. Pascal Maina, Pharmacist-in-Charge\u2014met Dr. Rashida T. Adamali, Principal Medical Officer at KPA. Their discussions ranged across clinical services, occupational health, pharmacy operations, healthcare systems management and employee wellness. What emerged was not a one-sided transfer of knowledge but a genuine exchange of institutional experience.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Dr. Njuguna observed that the engagement created space for both organisations to study each other\u2019s healthcare models and identify practical ways of improving service delivery and community reach. In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Adamali underscored the Medical Services Division\u2019s dual mandate: providing comprehensive care to KPA employees while extending quality services beyond the workplace through structured CSI programmes. This dual focus\u2014internal workforce health and external community support\u2014is precisely what makes KPA\u2019s model instructive.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The value of such institutional benchmarking lies in its potential to move beyond isolated CSI gestures toward systematic improvement. When organisations with complementary operating realities share protocols, procurement approaches, pharmacy logistics and occupational-health frameworks, the result is more efficient use of resources and more consistent standards of care. For Kenya Airways, whose workforce operates in a high-mobility, safety-critical environment, insights from a large industrial employer such as KPA are especially relevant.
